Anyone who knows me at all will know that I love food. All food, any food, I love it all. But when it comes to making food…well that’s a whole other thing entirely.
I was never taught to cook or bake when I was younger so now that I’m all grown up I just don’t do it, which may explain why I eat out so much.
But for my mum’s last birthday I wanted to do something special for her. She is the biggest chocoholic I know – she’s actually intolerant to chocolate but still eats it anyway – because what crazy fool would give up chocolate?!
So my sister and I decided to make her a cake…a huge chocolate Malteser cake!
Seeing as I’d never baked anything in my life this was going to be quite a challenge, but with my sister’s help it couldn’t have gone any better (apart from making way too much chocolate buttercream but since when was that a bad thing?!). The creamy, chocolately, delicious Malteser cake was, if I say so myself, absolutely amazing and I think the smile on my mum’s face says it all! 😀
While this isn’t the biggest or best achievement of mine, I was rather chuffed with my first ever attempt at baking, so I thought I’d still share it with you anyway. Not literally share it of course; this cake got eaten up way too quickly to do any sharing! 😉
I love this!! People always assume that if you love eating food, you must be good at making it too – errr…noooo….they’re not the same! The Maltesar cake looks amazing – I made a Maltesar cake once but it only had a ring of them around the edges so your version looks much more tempting! Well done Ayla 🙂
It was so so good. I’m tempted to make another just from looking at these pics again! I’m pretty sure you can make great food though Shikha and I have yet to test this theory out 😉
Wow, this looks so good!
So yummy!! 🙂
