Hi and welcome to Mrs Ayla’s Adventures, a blog by me, Ayla, all about my adventures around the world and my home in London. I’m the sort of person who can’t keep still for more than a few minutes which means I always have lots of exciting adventures to share with you that I hope will inspire you to have some adventures of your own.
A little bit about me
Having grown up in a family of holiday-goers and travel fanatics, the desire to explore has been ingrained in me since birth. However, I think I took it a step further than my family would have liked as my dear old nan often tells me off for going away for so long or going to a place she sees as dangerous.
My first round the world trip took me and my husband, Alex (although much to his annoyance I like to call him Mr Ayla), across the globe and I can honestly say that it changed my life. Since then I have not been able to go a single day without thinking about some far off land and I often find myself being told off by my family for “swanning off all the time” or by Mr Ayla because we just “can’t go on any more holidays” [insert tantrum here].
When I’m not researching, talking or dreaming about distant shores, you’ll likely find me out exploring my home in London, or with my head in a book, or doing my regular dose of volunteer work at London Zoo.
Having a mortgage and a full time job somewhat takes away the fun of being able to jet off on a new adventure whenever I fancy it but I try to squeeze in as much travel as possible around the normal routine that is life and I always try to make the most of every day.
Do I sleep? Not much. But do I have fun? Of course!
