My Foodie Addiction

Hi. I’m Ayla. And I have a foodie addiction.

A completely out of control, amazingly delicious addiction, and I thought it was about time I shared it with you (in case you didn’t already know).

I don’t just mean that I like eating. There’s a difference between being a foodie and just being a plain and simple eater (or, in other words, a pig) and, although Mr Ayla may disagree, I like to think I fall into the former category.

Food is such an important part of a country’s culture, and so dishes to try and places to eat are always one of the first things I research whenever I travel. I love exploring local delicacies and I’m always on the hunt for great foodie finds.  And when I find it I savour every bite.

I am not a glutton - I am an explorer of food

My nose has the knack of detecting the slightest scent of food – sausages sizzling on a barbeque in a garden somewhere on a sunny day; the smell of my neighbours cooking up a Chinese feast next door wafting through the walls; and I find myself being drawn to chocolate and cupcake shops like the sugary sweetness is calling my name.

In fact pretty much everywhere I go and everything I do, food is always on the brain. I get as excited as a kid at Christmas when thinking about what my next mouth-watering meal is going to be. Mr Ayla’s most used phrase is “Stop thinking about your stomach!”. But I absolutely cannot help it. It is out of my control.

Alex clearly knows that I like my food as he seems to have the camera poised and ready every time I take a mouthful.  Do I care that my husband seems to take pleasure from taking embarrassing photos of me stuffing my face?  I really really don’t because look how happy eating makes me… 🙂

I only really started to notice my food obsession when my Instagram suddenly looked so delicious that I wanted to lick my phone screen. I’m pretty certain I’m a travel blogger and yet the majority of my latest pictures all seem to be food related with the odd cocktail thrown in.

So to prove to you that this addiction is simply out of my control and that the world just offers way too much tempting and utterly scrumptious food for our consumption, here’s a roundup of some of my most mouth-watering Instagram photos for you to drool over. Just try not to lick the screen please. It really isn’t a good look.

I often have to stop myself from sharing too many food photos just in case I’m judged but, what the hell, food is great and I know there are plenty of you out there who feel exactly the same as me!

This is one addiction that I will never be able to kick!

If I recall correctly, it was you persuaded us to go for a dessert course this week! I can’t tell you how grateful I am, therefore, for your foodie addiction! Ps thanks for posting this right while I was in the midst of my pre Italy diet – thanks to these delicious looking foodie pics, I’m now trying to persuade G to go our for dinner & dessert tonight instead of the healthy salmon and salad we were going to have!!

I did no such thing! You were the one who suggested the dessert restaurant, I just happily went along with it! 😉 And you are very welcome – your stomach needs to be fully prepared for all the amazing food that Italy has to offer and I’m a pretty sure a diet isn’t the way to line your stomach 😉

All that food looks delicious!! I definitely have a bit of a food obsession too 🙂 I have trouble blogging about it though because I always eat all my food before I think to take a photo of it!

    • Ayla says:

Haha I can understand that problem but I always want to be able to drool over the food for long after I’ve eaten it, so photos are a must. Mr Ayla gets pretty annoyed though when I’m trying to take pics and he just wants to eat his food!

OMG!! Why did you do this?? I have some serious cravings right now!
We certainly do share the love for food… I am just exactly as you, exactly as you described.
W also tells me: you only think about eating! I can’t help it… especially when traveling, when I want to try everything 😀
    I looved this delicious post!!

Hahahaha sorry!! Trying different foods is one of the best parts of travelling and I think our husbands need to learn this. Maybe we should go on a trip together and then we can just eat all the time without being told off 😉
