About us

Welcome to Mama Ayla’s Adventures, a blog by me, Ayla, all about my adventures around the world and my home in London with my little adventurer, Evie.

Travelling with a toddler

Having grown up in a family of travel fanatics, the desire to explore has been ingrained in me since birth. My first big round the world trip in 2007 took me across the globe and I can honestly say that it changed my life.  Since then I have not been able to go a single day without daydreaming about some far off land, an exotic beach, a mountain view or a stunning sunset.

In 2017 my biggest adventure yet arrived in the form of Evie. Friends and family asked me if having a child meant my travels were over but my reply was always that our adventures were only just getting started!

Travelling with a baby

Although my style of travel has of course taken on a slightly slower pace, I’ve actually travelled a lot more since becoming a mum. Evie went on her first trip abroad when she was just nine weeks old and since then she has visited 14 different countries before her 2nd birthday, been on trains, planes, road trips, cruises and even visited 3 countries in 24 hours!  She’s a travelling pro, full of curiosity for new things and smiles for new people.  Even though she may not yet remember the places I’ve taken her too, she gains so much from her experiences, always learning something new every time we go on a trip.

I want to show her the world, to open her eyes to different cultures, different people and different ways of life. I want to teach her how to be kind and passionate, brave and curious.  To know that she should believe in herself and chase her dreams whatever they may be.  Because her mama did and now I’m living a life I love, exploring the world with my favourite little travel buddy.

Being a single mum hasn’t slowed me down at all so I hope that I can inspire you to have some amazing adventures of your own and to show you that travelling with a little one is completely possible.  You just need to pack double the amount of stuff!

Ayla, your photoblog is so amazing. You have been to so many places I would love to see! Did you guys actually got married in Gibraltar? I went there in September and loved it, especially the monkeys 😉 Greetings!

Hi Suze, thank you! Yes, we got married in Gibraltar – I have family out there so it’s like a second home to me but we both really love it there. The monkeys are quite an entertaining part of Gib!

Wonderful blog! I am always day dreaming and planning my next travel adventure just like you. I’ll be spending a lot of time in London and can’t wait to explore more, its such a fantastic city with so much to do!

Yup, you come back from one trip and start planning the next trip straight away! I’ve lived in London my whole life but have only really started exploring it a lot more over the last year and I’ve done some brilliant things. Hope you enjoy your time in London and thank you for the coment 🙂

Great blog. Nice to know that there are others out there that have the travel bug along side a full-time job and mortgage. I have a bookshelf full of travel books and bug my husband constantly about where we are going to travel next and when. He allows me the privilege of planning each and every trip to intrinsic detail and he then tags along with his camera…but I think he secretly would love to have a go at planning a trip! 🙂

We got jobs and saved hard for about 2 years before going off for long periods and now we both have full time jobs and travel in between that whenever we can. Travelling does cost a lot but if you save hard it is completely worth it. I wouldn’t have wanted to spend our money on anything else!
