About us

Hi and welcome to Mrs Ayla’s Adventures, a blog by me, Ayla, all about my adventures around the world and my home in London with my husband and new little adventurer.  I’m the sort of person who can’t keep still for more than a few minutes which means I always have lots of exciting adventures to share with you that I hope will inspire you to have some adventures of your own and to show that travel with a baby IS possible!

Paris with a baby

A little bit about me

Having grown up in a family of holiday-goers and travel fanatics, the desire to explore has been ingrained in me since birth.  However, I think I took it a step further than my family would have liked as my dear old nan often tells me off for going away for so long or going to a place she sees as dangerous.

My first round the world trip took me and my husband, Alex (although much to his annoyance I like to call him Mr Ayla), across the globe and I can honestly say that it changed my life.  Since then I have not been able to go a single day without daydreaming about some far off land and I often find myself being told off by my family for “swanning off all the time” or by Mr Ayla because we just “can’t go on any more holidays” [insert tantrum here].

This year we welcomed our little adventure, Evie, into the world and so we have taken on a slightly different style of travel. We took Evie on her first trip abroad when she was just nine weeks old. Aside from the huge amounts of extra things we need to pack (why do such tiny people need so much stuff?!), travels with a baby are no more stressful than travels pre-baby and I am so looking forward to lots more adventures and showing her the world.

Having a mortgage, a job and a baby somewhat takes away the fun of being able to jet off on a new adventure whenever I fancy it but I try to squeeze in as much travel as possible around the normal routine that is life and I always try to make the most of every day.

Do I sleep?  Not much.  But do I have fun?  Of course!

Ayla, your photoblog is so amazing. You have been to so many places I would love to see! Did you guys actually got married in Gibraltar? I went there in September and loved it, especially the monkeys 😉 Greetings!

Hi Suze, thank you! Yes, we got married in Gibraltar – I have family out there so it’s like a second home to me but we both really love it there. The monkeys are quite an entertaining part of Gib!

Wonderful blog! I am always day dreaming and planning my next travel adventure just like you. I’ll be spending a lot of time in London and can’t wait to explore more, its such a fantastic city with so much to do!

Yup, you come back from one trip and start planning the next trip straight away! I’ve lived in London my whole life but have only really started exploring it a lot more over the last year and I’ve done some brilliant things. Hope you enjoy your time in London and thank you for the coment 🙂

Great blog. Nice to know that there are others out there that have the travel bug along side a full-time job and mortgage. I have a bookshelf full of travel books and bug my husband constantly about where we are going to travel next and when. He allows me the privilege of planning each and every trip to intrinsic detail and he then tags along with his camera…but I think he secretly would love to have a go at planning a trip! 🙂

We got jobs and saved hard for about 2 years before going off for long periods and now we both have full time jobs and travel in between that whenever we can. Travelling does cost a lot but if you save hard it is completely worth it. I wouldn’t have wanted to spend our money on anything else!
