Weekly Photo Challenge: Reflections

This is probably one of the most well-known images when it comes to reflections and, even though I didn’t want to follow the pack by taking a picture that pretty much everyone will have from a trip to India, it was honestly too stunning a shot to not capture.

We arrived at the Taj Mahal early when the sun wasn’t fully out and a cold morning mist filled the air. After wandering around the grounds for a good couple of hours, the sun eventually decided to say hello.

You see it in photos and on TV but it just doesn’t do the building justice. We stood at the main gate, looking out at the Taj Mahal on the other side of the long pool. With its reflection shimmering in the still blue water, it was simply breathtaking. And to know that Emperor Shah Jahan had the entire mausoleum built in memory of his wife, makes it even more special.

I have never been over-awed by a building, but the Taj Mahal is something else.

I know exactly what you mean, no one can resist that postcard perfect photo when they first see the Taj! Truly, truly stunning. Did you head around to the gardens across the river behind the Taj for an even better view?

It hurt my eyes to look at it it was so bright white from the sun but that still didn’t stop me from looking in amazement! Yes, Alex took a great pic of me there looking at the Taj across the river at sunset 🙂
